Beautiful Copper

How beautiful copper is! Recently I started to work a little more with copper and I love it, especially when I add sterling silver to it. The contrast between the two metals is unique.

I started to make some more pieces of jewelry with this warm orangy-brown metal for a couple of reasons, beside the fact that I like it a lot. In a moment of downturn economy, it could be a great substitute; you could still have something really nice and spend quite less. It has the versatility to be shiny or oxidized. Copper, in fact, oxidizes fast but if you like it shiny, like I do, you can keep it that way with just the power of lemon juice, very natural and simple. When it's polished it's beautiful like rose gold: such a warm and lovely tone. Instead, oxidized together with sterling silver, it makes it so earthy, so natural, so organic.
In addition to its beauty , copper seems to have some great beneficial properties: Egyptian paintings, for instance, depict their citizens wearing copper bracelets in the upper arm and ankle too, more than one at the same time; maybe they used to wear them for medical purpose since Egyptian medical texts revealed that copper was useful in treating joints issues, inflammations of the joints and arthritis. Even now some people use it to target specific areas, for example, by wearing a bracelet to alleviate arthritis pain in the wrist and hand.
Copper is used for decorative purpose too and being such a beautiful metal deserves some fashion attention too purely for its beautiful characteristic.
